A person gains success and still feels incomplete. Another acquires comfort but continues searching for something more. Even moments of happiness seem unable to satisfy the deepest longing within.
What is this longing? Why does it never completely disappear?
Ancient wisdom points toward a simple answer. The soul is naturally drawn toward the Divine.
Just as a river flows toward the ocean without being taught, the heart carries a natural attraction toward God.
Many people spend years searching for fulfillment in temporary experiences.
Pleasure brings excitement for a while.
Achievements bring satisfaction for a while.
Possessions bring comfort for a while.
Yet something deeper continues calling from within.
The deepest desire of the soul is not temporary happiness. The deepest desire of the soul is Divine Love.
The soul naturally moves toward God because its real fulfillment exists there.
This attraction is not created by rituals, traditions, or beliefs.
It is already present.
Sometimes it appears as a longing for peace. Sometimes as a desire for truth. Sometimes as an urge to serve, love, and help others without selfish motives.
Behind all these expressions is the same movement of the heart toward the Divine.
The heart finds temporary enjoyment in the world, but lasting fulfillment in Divine Love.
As understanding deepens, attachment to temporary things begins to loosen naturally.
This does not mean rejecting life.
It simply means seeing things as they are.
Everything in the world changes.
Pleasures come and go.
Situations change.
Achievements pass.
Knowing this, the heart slowly turns toward what is eternal.
A beautiful truth of devotion is that it never becomes old.
Worldly desires often lose their charm after they are fulfilled.
But Divine Love is different.
The more it is experienced, the more it grows. The more it grows, the more beautiful it becomes.
Worldly pleasures often end after they are obtained. Divine Love becomes deeper after it is found.
Knowledge may reveal the Divine, but devotion allows the heart to experience Divine Love.
Devotion is not limited to temples, rituals, or special occasions.
It appears in gratitude. It appears in kindness. It appears in selfless service. It appears in remembering God amidst ordinary life.
A sincere heart, a loving intention, and a desire to move closer to God are themselves expressions of devotion.
Know the temporary, and attachment begins to fade. Know the Divine, and love begins to grow.
Gradually the heart discovers that what it was searching for in countless places was always calling from within.
The journey of devotion is not about finding something new.
It is about returning to the Divine Love that has always existed between the soul and God.
The soul’s deepest attraction is not toward the world. Its deepest attraction is toward Divine Love.
