Experiencing the Divine Presence Everywhere: The Path to Realizing “Vasudevah Sarvam”

The journey to experiencing “Vasudevah Sarvam” (everything is God) begins with a fundamental realization: the body, which we consider our own, is merely a temporary gift from the world. It was not ours before birth, and it will not remain ours after death. Even now, with every passing moment, it moves closer to separation from us.

Understanding the Temporary Nature of the Body

This body, though an essential instrument for living, is transient. It belongs to the world in the perspective of karma yoga, to nature in the view of jnana yoga, and to the divine in the essence of bhakti yoga. A universally accepted truth is that what we receive from the world and will eventually lose cannot be considered ours. By internalizing this fact, one begins to detach from identifying with the body as “mine.”

Serving the World as an Expression of the Divine

To experience “Vasudevah Sarvam,” dedicate your body to serving the world without harming anyone with your thoughts, words, or actions. This service should align with your abilities and be just and righteous. Do not engage in unethical or unreasonable actions, even if requested by others.

“True service lies in doing what aligns with justice and one’s capacity, while refraining from wrongdoing.”

The Power of Avoiding Negativity

One of the most profound practices is to refrain from negativity—neither doing, thinking, nor speaking ill of others. This simple yet transformative act paves the way for divine realization. While doing good deeds often brings a sense of pride, refraining from negativity fosters humility and leads to self-purification.

By avoiding negativity, two possibilities emerge: you either engage in righteous actions or remain in a state of divine stillness. This stillness naturally draws you closer to the divine essence, as activity ties us to the world, while inner calmness connects us with the eternal truth.

The Path to Experiencing “Vasudevah Sarvam”

To realize “Vasudevah Sarvam,” begin by acknowledging that the body is a temporary vessel and not your true self. Dedicate yourself to righteous service, avoid negativity, and let go of attachment to actions and outcomes. Gradually, you will witness the divine presence in all things and achieve an unparalleled sense of unity and peace.

“To see everything as God, one must embrace service, let go of ego, and live with humility.”
